Lest We Forget: Nehanda's Anniversary
On this day, the 27th of April 122 years ago, one of the illustrious heroines of the 1st Chimurenga, Mbuya Nehanda was brutally hanged by the white settler regime for leading resistance against colonialism. It is not by coincidence that our country achieved Independence in the same month of April.
Before she was hanged, she declared that her bones shall rise again to liberate this country. It came to pass with the 2nd Chimurenga finally winning the war for Independence through a protracted liberation struggle. Unfortunately, her remains were confiscated by the white settlers up to this day.
The Party and the nation at large has always demanded an unconditional return of her remains together with the remains of her fellow compatriots
