Burial of National Hero Brigadier Gen Ruphus Chigudu

Family representative

Shows gratitude to His Excellency President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF for conferring the late Brigadier General a National Hero status. The late Brigadier General was passionate about education, which found him imparting knowledge at work as a special weapons instructor.

In Chiyendambuya, we have lost a cadre who is irreplaceable at any lengths.
He left a rich legacy which is difficult to fill. We value the Chieftainship of Chief Makoni for mentoring this gallant son of the soil.

The late Brigadier General was a disciplined military officer, father, brother, Cde and a compatriot whom everyone cherished working and interacted with.

Burial of National Hero Brigadier Gen Ruphus Chigudu

His Excellency President E.D Mnangagwa begins his address by saying

We are gathered in deep sorrow as we lay to rest our fellow patriot and serviceman.

The President conveys his deepest condolences to the Chigudu family and says that together we have lost an astute military man, a stalwart of the liberation struggle.

Those whom he served with in Government were saddened. He was promoted in June this year.

In ZANU PF and Government, we have lost a patriot, we have lost a seasoned military man.

The late Brigadier General was a fearless veteran who was dedicated to the defence of the independence struggle.

As ZANU PF and Government, we have lost a veteran of war and the Defence school establishment is now poorer without him.

What distinguished him from most of his generation is that he was unhesitant to take up arms against oppression.

While at Doroi camp in Mozambique, the Rhodesian army launched a biological attack which he survived and those are some of the atrocities which were perpetuated by the imperialists and which the liberation struggle fighters had to endure.

Despite having endured the biological attacks perpetuated by the imperialists, he did not renege.

Isu tasara, let's adhere to those independence values and ideals.
The late Brigadier General received several medals which include regional merits

As SADC stands with us against the illegal sanctions, it reflects our collective efforts in bettering the livelihoods of our people.

The Land Reform is irreversible and those creating a different narratives are doomed. This Administration will stand to address food security issues in the country.

We must make maximum use of the land which the late Brigadier General Chigudu fought for.

We have a responsibility of feeding the nation through the hyping up of the 2020 season.

The national infrastructure is being resuscitated.

The late Brigadier General knew the value of peace and as such I applaud our observation of peace.

COVID 19 is still with us and we must adhere to the regulations.

Ritual murders are increasing and equally worrisome are cases of shootouts. Let's draw an example from the late Brigadier General Chigudu who was disciplined even though he was a military man with access to firearms.

We should remember the late Brigadier General Chigudu's contribution and do a self retrospect of our contributions toward peace and stability of our country
