Commemorating the Robert Gabriel Mugabe National Youth Day Celebrations at Mushagashe Vocational Youth Training Centre in Masvingo Province, President ED Mnangagwa said, youths should build their country.
“We did our work as youth, we fought and freed the country, what about you the youths we want to know what you are going to do for the country. We brought about freedom, we brought about democracy we brought about independence, we pass this button to you.
You the youth of today who have assembled us today I question you the imminence of what we did when we were young is evident by the independence and the freedom we enjoy today,” said the President.
President ED Mnangagwa urged the youth to have their own legacy.
“We are your founding fathers of freedom and independence…youths today what legacy are you building for your mother land Zimbabwe, what legacy are you going to leave behind.
Those who sacrificed their lives and their freedom to bring about today's freedom are gone but we are here today what do we pay them for giving us today's freedom,” he said.
The President said looking into the future the hope was that the youth would build their country.
“We look forward to the future with great confidence with you the younger generation will taking on board and embrace our philosophy yekuti nyika inovakwa igotongwa igonamatirwa nevene vayo. We have the responsibility ourselves, upon our shoulders a burden to develop our country,” said the President.
