Archbishop Makururu commends Mozambican economic development framework

Johane the Fifth of Africa International Church Founder and leader, Archbishop Dr Andby Makururu has praised and joined Mozambican President Daniel Chapo's call for religious leaders to mobilise peace, development and economic independence in the country's next 50 years.

His Grace, Dr Makururu took heed of the clarion call by, His Excellency President Chapo during the 11th FRELIMO National Cadres Conference which has been described as an eye opening experience on nation building and servant leadership for the masses' mental emancipation.

During the event, President Chapo met and discussed with servant leaders of different forums elaborating that the country’s biggest challenge now is achieving economic independence.

Speaking on Friday, at the opening of the 11th FRELIMO National Cadres Conference, the FRELIMO Party Leader said Mozambique must engage the global economy “from a position of sovereignty.”

“If the first fifty years were marked by the achievement and consolidation of political independence, the next fifty years must be geared toward achieving economic independence,” he said.

He called for "Mozambique to transform its natural resources - gold, coal, gas, rubies, and graphite - into national wealth that creates jobs and prosperity for families."

According to Chapo, economic independence will also come through foreign investment and international cooperation but must be backed by “concrete actions” such as industrialization, processing of domestic resources, and modernization of agriculture.

“The Party's mission must continue to be dedicated to the people, transforming hope into a prosperous future for all Mozambicans,” he added.

Archbishop Dr Andby Makururu said, "I feel honoured to have been part of such a beautiful occasion. May the Lord Almighty bless and continue to guide the leadership of FRELIMO and the citizens of Mozambique. As J5, we will continue to support the Government and the God-ordained leaders here present so that Africa may continue to rise as one under their tutelage."

The event brought together FRELIMO cadres to define strategic pillars for the country and the party’s future.
