ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa says the Zulu Kings have distanced themselves from the recent attacks in South Africa calling upon the region to work together towards the development of their continent.
Speaking in an interview, Cde Mutsvangwa said, “We just had a visit of King MisiZulu of the Zulu Kingdom in South Africa. He came with a fellow King from the Amaphondo of South Africa, King Damase and a delegation of 20 chiefs and Induna. They came to see President Emmerson Mnangagwa as a Senior Statesman at a time when the region is facing a lot of unfavorable publicity due to the ground swell of weaponized poverty which is the poor in South Africa fighting against their own poor African colleagues who had emigrated to South Africa because of the historical circumstances which owed to the colonial era when capital made South Africa a preferred destination and labour naturally followed that trend where there’s opportunity because of capital.”
He added that, “The Kings came to say that we are not part of the weaponization of poverty, we feel that we are part of Africa and we want to assure President Mnangagwa that we the Kings of South Africa are not at all associated with this negative aspect which is going on. We want to assure President Mnangagwa that we are part of the Ubuntu which was taken to the highest level by the late President Nelson Mandela. We are the same people and we have historical links regardless of the colonial boundaries.”
He emphasized the need for Africa to come together and create opportunities for their people so that there is harmony in Africa.
