Manhize DISCO Steel Industry Projects Director Wilfred Motsi says the company is able to meet the local demands.
He said this during a tour of the plant highlighting that the company has even gone into partnerships.
"We are at 80 percent production and are producing peak iron, steel billets, rebars used in most of the construction work in Zimbabwe. I am happy to say that we can meet the local market demands and export," he said.
Motsi said the company has a "huge impact in terms of value chain linkages . We are buying almost 98 percent of local raw cork, iron ore, limestone and other local enterprises."
"We have started working on partnerships with such companies as ZISCO Steel because we have discovered that ZISCO does not have the raw materials which we are producing but they have lines of production which are still intact. We will give them the raw materials on market basis."
