President Mnangagwa has said Zimbabwe is a unitary state a land with many cultures, languages and culture and no language and culture is superior over the other.
Delivering his remarks at THE COMMEMORATION OF THE 38th UNITY DAY ANNIVERSARY, President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said under his administration there is no reason for any antagonistic and divisive differences which breeds hatred and disharmony.
“Zimbabwe is a unitary state a land with many cultures, languages and culture. No culture, language and tribe is superior over any others. Differences in perspectives ideas and approaches may arise and these must be solved directly through dialogues.
“Under my administration there is no reason for any antagonistic and divisive differences which breeds hatred and disharmony. No attempt to divide us will ever succeed this is the individual and collective pledge we must all make on this important day across all communities within our borders, “said President Mnangagwa.
The Head of State and Government also reiterated that under the Second Republic the country’s unity is sacred as the day of commemorations must see all Zimbabweans recommit to guarding and promoting this national pillar of our nationhood.
“Our National Unity is sacred. This day must see us all recommit ourselves to guarding and promoting this national pillar of our nationhood. Let is patriotically defend our country and national image of a peaceful united and hardworking people.
“My fellow Zimbabweans as we reflect on the journey we have walked since the signing of the Unity Accord we continue to celebrate the countless victories we have scored as one united nation,” said President Mnangagwa.
In the same vein of promoting unity across sectors, President Mnangagwa also said government is committed to accelerate the transformation of the economy creating jobs and improving the quality of life of the citizens.
“The NDS1 which concludes this year has delivered. Going forward NDS2 was launched with our focus shifting to industrialisation value addition and inclusive growth. We are committed to accelerate the transformation of our economy creating jobs and improving the quality of life of our citizens,” said President Mnangagwa.
The 38th anniversary of the Unity Accord is a historic agreement signed by the founding fathers and the late national heroes former President Robert Gabriel Mugabe and Vice President Cde Joshua Nyongolo Nkomo on the 22 December 1987.
The accord ushered in National Unity which remains a critical building block towards durable peace and progress in Zimbabwe.
