Comrades;
I warmly welcome you all to the 397th Ordinary Session of the Politburo.
The month of September holds profound significance for our Party and nation. We remember and honour the legacies of two founding fathers of our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe: the late National Heroes, President and First Secretary of the Party, Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe, who passed on, on 6 September 2019, and former Vice President, "the Soul of the Nation," Dr Simon Vengai Muzenda, who passed on, on 20 September 2003.
These illustrious leaders devoted their lives to the liberation of Zimbabwe and advancement of our national sovereignty, freedom, democracy and independence. Their selfless sacrifices remain a source of inspiration to present and future generations, reminding us that the gains of liberation struggle should be consolidated through unity, patriotism, hard honest work, stringent discipline, unwavering love and loyalty to the Party and our country.
Let us as the Politburo; continue yo embody these values, to advance the enduring ethos, ideals, traditions and principles of our Party.
Today, we also remember the departed Comrades who passed on since our last Politburo meeting. They served our Party and nation with dedication, persistence and consistency. Among them is the late National Hero, Cde Edward Raradza, who distinguished himself in service to the nation as a nationalist, industrialist, farmer and faith leader.
May the Politburo please rise as we observe a minute of silence in honour of the departed Comrades.
May their souls continue to reat in eternal peace.
Comrades;
This meeting is being held barely two weeks before the 23rd National People's Conference to be held in Chinhoyi under the theme "From resolutions to Results: Consolidating Economic Development and Deepening Empowerment towards Vision 2030."
The progress realised so far, in preparation for the hosting of the Conference is pleasing. I exhort the National Conference Coordination Committee led by the National Chairman and host Province of Mashonaland West to ensure that all preparatory are timely concluded.
The theme of the Conference enjoins us to move beyond the mere adoption of Resolutions towards their concrete implementation. I, commend the Politburo Secretaries and Government Departments for the positive attitude towards impactful results. This should be sustained so that Party Resolutions remain instruments for advancing socio-economic development and accelerating the attainment of Vision 2030.
I, further challenge us, the leadership to be steadfast in our ongoing quest for the modernisation, industrialisation and growth of our economy to lift many of our people into prosperity.
Let us view challenges as opportunities for development and a chance to effectively mobilise communities so that we all actualise our shared nationalisation and development aspirations. The Party structures must always play a facilitation role in the access and implementation of Government programmes.
Meanwhile, the progressive and revolutionary mindset, that continues to charecterise our national events, must continue to be the glue that unites our people at every level. Further, our gatherings, should remain a clarion call for action, to aim higher, think outside the box and build a greater Zimbabwe from the foundations of our own rich historical heritage.
In this respect, I commend the Women and Youth Leagues, our Affiliate organisations and provinces, particularly Harare and Mashonaland Central, for successfully organising the Young Women for Economic Development Convention and Munhumutapa Day Commemorations, respectively. Well done.
I am pleased with the eagerness expressed by our Diaspora community in the United States of America to contribute their skills and expertise to the development of our motherland, Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, the successful hosting of the Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo in Masvingo Province demonstrated how tourism can leapfrog our hospitality industry and overall economy. It is commendable that the Expo provided a platform for Zimbabwe to showcase its showcase its tourism products, attract international buyers and investors as well as establish business synergies across the tourism value chain.
I call upon, provinces where such events are held to rise to the occasion and facilitate long term investments, leveraging on networks and engagements feom such forum.
As we bodly pursue our national development agenda, protection of our people against the negative effects of climate change is a priority area. To this end, the ZANU PF led Government, approved a robust Six-pillar Drought Mitigation Plan in readiness to respond to forecasts of below-normal rainfall during the 2026/2027 season. This includes measures to wnhance strategic grain reserves, accelerate grain imports and mobilise financing for food sovereignty.
The Party, through our grassroot structures, must prepare communities, and summon the strong communal national character trait towards securing lives and livelihoods, including those of vulnerable households.
Comrades;
On the international front, multilateralism and diplomacy are a critical ingredient for sustainable and shared prosperity. Our external engagements continue to advance Zimbabwe’s national interests and strengthen our voice in the comity of nations. Our participation at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, convened under the theme "Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All," was particularly significant as Zimbabwe prepares to assume its seat on the United Nations Security Council in January 2027.
This responsibility places upon Zimbabwe the duty to contribute constructively to the maintenance of international peace and security, while advancing the interests of developing countries.
Hosting of the 25th COMESA Summit under the theme "One Market, One Future,: Advancing Inclusive Industrialisation, Investment and Regional Integration in COMESA," marks another notable milestone. The Chairmanship of the block, will see Zimbabwe advocate the digital economy, industrialisation as well as science and technology as critical drivers of regional trade, investment and integration.
In conclusion, I reiterate the importance of translating our Resolutions, policies and ideological commitments into tangible results. This year’s 23rd National People's Conference, therefore, must be about the people of our great motherland, Zimbabwe. The core priority of the various committees must be to proffer concise strategies that accelerate development of our infrastructure, social services as well as industrialisation. Let us never be distracted but remain focused, united, disciplined, and firmly grounded in our enduring liberation ethos, while remaining responsive to the changing needs of a modern economy.
Together, From Resolutions to Results, we are resolutely moving forward as we build a prosperous empowered and sovereign Zimbabwe. Under ZANU PF, no one and no place must be left behind.
