TRANSPARENCY KEY: MINISTER SHIRI

Government is encouraging transparency in all operations which is why it is giving farming equipment to banks, said a Government Minister. Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Development Perrence Shiri said this on the side-lines of the launch of the agriculture mechanisation program in partnership with US Company John Deere, the John Deere Mechanisation Facility. This is in line with what President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa said yesterday at the Burial of the late Cde Stanley Nleya. "Learning from the life of the late Cde Nleya, our youths must utilise the empowerment and economic space that we created through the sacrifices of our departed heroes. They must grow our economy through hard work and productivity that will result in food self-sufficiency and the increased export of goods and services from our great country,” he said. "Despite the set backs we may face,  Zimbabwe needs people who choose peace over disharmony, tranquillity over violence, love and peace over hatred, morality, integrity and hard honest work over immorality, laziness and corruption." Minister Shiri today said the farming equipment is being handed over to banks as an attempt to further transparency. “If a bank wants to be corrupt, let them do so because they will die a natural death, it will be their own loss. It is their business and they are not known to be corrupt,” he said. "The tractors have been surrendered to banks, they will identify suitable farmers because they are expected to pay for them over several years. The banks will look for credit worthy farmers. "As for combined harvesters, two will be given per province and the rest will be handed over to Agribank.” President Mnangagwa has always called for transparency in all operations and a corrupt free society
