ZANU PF Secretary General Cde Jacob F.N Mudenda has challenged Politburo members and Party Directors to formulate policies that support and protect innovations by Universities.
Speaking during a tour of the University of Zimbabwe, Cde Mudenda said it is imperative for the Party to formulate policies that advance the country towards Vision 2030.
”I have been asking myself since we began this tour, if my fellow Politburo members and Staff are appreciating the process and visit. Teaching is the most noble profession because everyone passes through the hands of a teacher. Humanity acquires knowledge so we reduce the frontiers of ignorance,” said the Secretary General.
”I am amazed at the level of my ignorance during this tour. I want to applaud His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa for appointing the Vice Chancellor to our oldest University because in you I see a very expansive vision of education at tertiary level.
“ZANU PF must therefore formulate policies to protect their discoveries. We have seen a product of Chimurenga chepfungwa, umvukela wengqondo. UZ is proving it can be done.”
The Politburo members toured the University of Zimbabwe Specialist Medical Centre, University of Zimbabwe International Centre for Surgical Simulation, VN Clothing (Pvt Ltd) and Future Foods (Pvt Ltd), Transtech Solution Centre (Pvt Ltd) and the University of Zimbabwe’s Innovation Hub.
