Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor, John Mushayavanhu says the Central Bank along with others will fund Manhize and see to the building of infrastructure until it is a town.
Speaking during a tour of the plant, Governor Mushayavanhu said Manhize has a lot of potential and the progress made is impressive.
"A lot has happened since 2022 and it was pleasing for us to see production and the final product coming out of the production line. What pleased me most is that this is a big opportunity for us in terms of import substitution," he said.
"As a country we have been importing Steel but now we have a company that is producing enough steel for our own requirements and also for export in our region and internationally.
"A lot of work still has to be done but there has been a lot of progress in terms of infrastructure. What we are saying as a Monetary Authority is that we are happy and ready to assist them to achieve the final product that they want to produce for the country.
Certainly Manhize has the potential to become a large and modern city and the Central Bank in collaboration with other banks will make sure we put in place a financing package that will enable the construction of all the supporting infrastructure to take place."
