ZANU PF CALLS FOR STERNER MEASURES OVER COVID-19

ZANU PF has proposed sterner measures as the country moves towards protecting its citizenry from the deadly corona virus. Speaking during a policy meeting held at the ZANU PF Party headquarters this Monday morning, policy makers highlighted that it is better to prioritize safety and emulate measures taken by other countries. It has come as an issue of concern that places such as Siyaso and Mupedzanhamo as well as bus terminuses are fully packed with people from all over Harare making it easy for the virus to spread. Other countries among them Belgium, Denmark, the People’s Republic of China, Poland, Italy and France have implemented lock-downs to protect their people.ZANUPF Secretary for Administration, Cde Obert Mpofu said sterner measures must be implemented to safeguard the people of Zimbabwe. “South Africa has since closed its five borders and is contemplating on closing the Beitbridge border as well. Schools have closed but the country is yet to introduce more stringent measures. We have a duty to ensure the safety of our people, and as such, we will be writing to the President and the government to effect a lockdown where only skeletal staff report to work.” Cde David Parirenyatwa urged people to eat healthy food, avoid gym halls, beer halls and crowded vending places. We must break the chain of infections through social distancing. Let us eat healthy and this means eating foods that boost our immune systems such as fruits and vegetables.” Meanwhile various churches and denominations have been encouraged to the call by the President and First Secretary Cde E. D Mnangagwa to avoid church gatherings as part of maintaining social distancing.
