Education must not exist in isolation: Cde Tavengwa

"Education must not exist in isolation," says the ZANU PF Secretary for Education, Ideology and Research, Cde Charles Tavengwa.

He said this during a tour of the University of Zimbabwe's innovation hubs.

"Today’s programme reflects this mandate. We have deliberately organised a tour of the Industrial Incubation Centre, Specialist Medical Centre and Agro-Industrial Park to appreciate how education, research and innovation are being translated into practical solutions for national development," Cde Tavengwa said.

"Comrades, education and research must not exist in isolation from the national development agenda. They must produce knowledge, innovation, technologies and solutions that improve the lives of our people and strengthen our economy.

"The Industrial Incubation Centre speaks to innovation and enterprise development; the Specialist Medical Centre demonstrates the contribution of specialised knowledge and research to our health system; while the Agro-Industrial Park reflects the link between knowledge, agriculture, value addition and industrialisation.

"These initiatives are therefore important to our pursuit of NDS2 and Vision 2030. The attainment of an upper-middle-income society requires a skilled population, research, innovation, industrialisation and value addition."
