The National Assembly is scheduled to meet to deliberate on the proposed amendments noted by the Upper House.
This follows the overwhelming vote in support of Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3. 75 Honourable Senators voted in favour of the Bill against four, bringing to a close debate in the Upper House.
Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Honourable Ziyambi Ziyambi noted that "The Upper House had a robust debate with 55 Senators debating. Of those 50 were in favour and 5 had discenting votes. This House was not just rubber stamping. They managed to pick things that we didn't identify in the National Assembly and we corrected them here."
He highlighted that there was an omission of the procedure of the first sitting of Parliament after an election.
He added that once the National Assembly deliberates on amendments by Senate, the Bill should be taken to His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa for assent.
