It is our collective responsibility: President Mnangagwa

His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa says Zambia’s contribution to Zimbabwe is that he is the President of Zimbabwe.

Speaking during the ED-UNZA Fundraising Dinner held in Harare Thursday evening, President Mnangagwa reiterated that it is imperative to create opportunities for the young men and women of Zimbabwe and Zambia so that they can transform their respective societies.

President Mnangagwa said the two countries share more than just the colonial borders hence the need to work together for their young people.

“Our two nations, Zimbabwe and Zambia share more than borders. We share common history, cultural ties and relations as well as aspirations and a collective responsibility to secure a brighter future for the young people of the respective countries. Whilst our countries remain richly endowed with God-given natural resources, I believe that our untapped wealth also lies within the vast potential and intellectual prowess of our youth population in both countries,” President Mnangagwa said.

“Across our rural and urban communities, there are brilliant young men and women with the capacity transform our respective societies. Many of these bright young minds however remain locked out higher education as a result of circumstances of their birth. This reality is what inspired the establishment of the ED-UNZA Scholarship Trust.

“As an alumni of the University of Zambia myself, I founded this initiative on an enduring principle that talent is universal but opportunity is not. It is my conviction that collectivism and shared leadership entails the distribution of what we have individually and collectively to uplift others. In this case we must never tire in our quest to empower the youth and create opportunities for children within Zimbabwe and Zambia so that they realize their full potential and achieve impactful careers. This must continue to be collective effort.”
