We are indebted to Equatorial Guinea: President Mnangagwa

His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has reinforced Zimbabwe’s solidarity with Equatorial Guinea adding that the country will never forget the assistance it got from that country.

Speaking at during a welcome dinner hosted at the State House, President Mnangagwa said, His Excellency, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo’s visit, “is a celebration of our rich past, brotherly partnership and enduring bond of friendship between our countries. It also affords us with an opportunity to chat the bold and transformative future for our mutual benefit. Zimbabwe is forever indebted to Equatorial Guinea, for the principled and courageous solidarity along with the economic and material support, availed to us during our times of great need, following the imposition of sanctions by some Western countries. We shall never forget and will jealously guard our unity, and solidarity.”

Also speaking at the end of today’s Bilateral Talks, President Mnangagwa said, “As we come to the end of these Bilateral Talks, I wish to thank you, Your Excellency, for your able and effective stewardship as co-chair of this defining meeting. The frank, constructive and forward-looking engagements we held reaffirm the enduring bonds of the fraternal relations between our two Republics. Our discussions have been guided by shared history and collective commitment to building prosperous and self-reliant economies.

This State Visit has provided us with an important opportunity to elevate our bilateral relations to a higher level. It has deepened and consolidated our ideals of Pan-Africanism, South-South cooperation and the aspiration for African unity, integration as well as shared prosperity. The partnership between our two nations must now decisively move from dialogue to tangible results. This must be anchored on timely and coordinated implementation. Inclusive development and equitable growth, that benefit our two economies and peoples should remain key objectives. I commend the productive work undertaken by our Ministers and officials across the various sectors.”
