In a move to support community safety and enhance the operational environment for law enforcement, the organization Miners for Economic Development has donated a wide range of equipment to the ZRP Bindura Rural and ZRP Matepatepa Base stations.
The donation which highlights a strong partnership between the mining sector and local authorities was graced by the presence of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland Central, Honourable Chris Magomo.
The donation package includes furniture, an off-grid solar solution comprising: 3 Solar Panels, 2 Batteries for energy storage, 2 Inverters, 3 Charge Controllers and 4 Power Adapters amongst other things.
The Minister of State Honourable Magomo said, "The initiative is vital for empowering the Police force. The equipment would go a long way in boosting the morale and efficiency of the officers serving in these remote areas, ultimately leading to improved safety for the local communities."
The organisation's National Vice Chairman Dru Edmund Kucherera said, "This solar equipment will provide a reliable source of electricity, which is critical for communication, lighting, and powering essential devices, especially in areas with limited or unreliable grid power. We are commitment to corporate social responsibility and believe that a secure environment is fundamental for sustainable economic development in the Province."
Officers in charge of both ZRP Bindura and ZRP Matepatepa expressed their profound gratitude for the donation, confirming that it would directly address some of their most pressing challenges and enhance their ability to serve and protect.
