In a significant boost to digital learning and educational infrastructure, the philanthropic organisation Miners for Economic Development has donated a substantial consignment of modern equipment to six schools in the Zvishavane district, in a ceremony officiated by Chief Mapanzure.

The donation, which includes state-of-the-art Starlink internet kits, laptops, printers, and whiteboards, is set to transform the learning experience for students at Lundi Primary, Shonhai Secondary, Sinami Primary, Mabhazuli Primary, Govarizadze Secondary, and Dambudzo Secondary schools.

The handover ceremony, which underscored the community's endorsement of the initiative, was graced by Chief Mapanzure. Also in attendance was Cde Anesu Matembo, who represented the Commissariat Department.

In a statement, the National Vice Chairman of Miners for Economic Development, Cde Dru Edmund Kucherera, highlighted the origins of this transformative initiative, noting that it was the brainchild of National Chairman Cde Danford Suntile, who hails from Mapanzure.

Echoing this sentiment, Cde Suntile himself issued a statement, placing the donation firmly within the national development agenda. "We applaud the President, His Excellency Cde Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, for his visionary leadership and the clarion call of Vision 2030," Cde Suntile said. "This initiative is our humble contribution towards equipping our future generations with the tools they need to become the drivers of that vision."

Further emphasising the strategic importance of the event, Cde Anesu Matembo, representing the Commissariat Department, highlighted the critical role of affiliates in national development. Cde Matembo stressed that the work of organisations like Miners for Economic Development is instrumental in achieving the milestones set out in the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and in accelerating the nation's overall economic development.

The donation aligns perfectly with the national vision for a digitally empowered Zimbabwe. The successful rollout was facilitated through a collaborative effort with the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, which provided the necessary support and guidance.

The provision of Starlink kits is particularly groundbreaking, as it will provide high-speed internet to schools in areas where connectivity has been a persistent challenge. This will instantly unlock a world of online educational resources, research materials, and global learning platforms for both students and teachers.

The laptops and printers will modernise administrative functions and enhance computer literacy, while the whiteboards will support interactive and dynamic teaching methods.

The initiative by Miners for Economic Development has been widely hailed as a timely and strategic intervention, demonstrating the private sector's pivotal role in complementing government efforts to build a skilled, future-ready generation.
