Kamativi Mining Company's Public Relations Officer Cde Dumisani Chihoto says the reopening of the company is a positive showcase of the relationship between Zimbabwe and the People’s Republic of China.
Speaking at the company, Cde Chihoto said there has been an accrued benefit to the local people.
"The reopening of Kamativi Mining Company is a positive showcase of bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and China. With the opening of the mining company, employment has increased within the mine with 1400 workers. The community has also benefited from road construction, solar-powered boreholes and scholarships for school children."
The company's General Manager Mr Ye Jianguo said a total of 250USD billion had already been injected.
"This project from the Shareholders' side has already injected about 250USD billion. The company is mining, processing and producing spodumene lithium concentrates."
Kamativi Mining Company is mining 5000 tonnes of ore per day. The phase two plant has a capacity of exporting 700 tonnes of spodumene per day and an annual crushing capacity of 2 million tonnes.
