His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa joined other Heads of State at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. 

Apart from that, President Mnangagwa also took time to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development.

Writing on his Twitter wall, President Mnangagwa said, "Zimbabwe is honoured to join the international community in commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development.

The Declaration affirmed a fundamental principle: development is a human right, and every individual and nation must have the opportunity to participate in and benefit from development.

Forty years on, this principle remains highly relevant. Poverty, inequality, climate change, debt pressures and unequal access to technology continue to constrain the development prospects of many developing countries.

Zimbabwe therefore calls for strengthened international solidarity, greater access to affordable development finance, technology transfer and meaningful participation of developing countries."

He also wrote, "I have joined fellow Heads of State and Government in New York for the opening of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

This important global gathering provides an opportunity for nations to engage on pressing international challenges, strengthen cooperation and advance matters of shared concern.

Zimbabwe remains committed to constructive engagement with the international community and to contributing meaningfully to discussions that shape our collective future."
