POLITBURO OKAYS COVID-19 LOCKDOWN MEASURES INTENSIFICATION

  The ZANU PF 314st session of the Politburo has okayed the intensifying of covid-19 lockdown measures in order to further curb the spread of the pandemic on ordinary citizens. Speaking during his opening remarks, ZANU PF First Secretary and President Cde E.D Mnangagwa said government will soon review Covid-19 lockdown measures in the wake of the recent spike of the pandemic. President Mnangagwa also said the strategies adopted to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic have to date yielded positive results. “Although there is visible spike in the number of positive cases, largely due to returnees, we shall continue to strengthen our preventive measures as well as our testing and contact tracing capacity,’’ he said. “I urge the Party to continue to be in the forefront of raising the awareness levels in our communities of the dangers of this pandemic. The recent rapid spike of infectious requires that we make another review of the Covid-19 lockdown measures.” Government has also put in place measures to curb the spread of the pandemic, while the increase in infectious cases is caused The Revolutionary Party’s Politburo received a comprehensive report from the covid-19 taskforce headed However addressing the media soon after the session ZANU PF Acting  Secretary for Information and Publicity Cde Patrick Chinamasa said the Politburo has noted that the fact the nation has relatively lower deaths should not make government complacent but rather more efforts in awareness is needed. “The meeting also noted the motivating number of recoveries which stand at 306.However, the fact that we have are relatively lower death rate should not make us complacent but rather, we need to double our efforts in awareness campaigns, wearing of face masks, social distancing as well as contact tracing and adequate supply of PPES.” Cde Chinamasa also highlighted that the Politburo requested for stronger cooperation between Ministry of Health and uniformed forces in monitoring the covid-19 benchmarks set.
