Pray for unity and development: Archbishop Makururu

By Margaret Kamba

Johane, the 5th of Africa International Church Founder, Archbishop Dr Andby Makururu, has encouraged the people of Mozambique and Zimbabwe to unite as their countries are bound by their liberation struggles.

Speaking from Tete Province, where he has been on a Round Up Tour, Archbishop Makururu said movement between the two countries must be free to reflect the relationship dating back to the liberation struggle.

"The year 2026 is a year of wealth, hence the need to steadfastly pray so that God richly blesses the two countries," Archbishop Makururu.

"The liberation struggle united the two countries, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The relationship between them must reflect this history. It is very unfortunate that the coloniser made sure to render the indigenous churches useless so that they do not preach patriotism and wealth. You must love your country and work hard to build and defend it because it is your wealth."

FRELIMO's Claudio Hona expressed gratitude to Archbishop Makururu for his teachings, which are bringing unity and peace.

"We are grateful to Archbishop Dr Andby Makururu for his teaching to our people as we work for our country. The Church is praying for FRELIMO and Mozambique so that it can have peace and development. No country can develop if there is war. I urge our people to heed to the call by the Archbishop and continue to pray for Mozambique."
