President Mnangagwa has today commissioned the Mutare state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence-powered Grain Marketing Board Silo Complex.
Giving his remarks at the commissioning of the Mutare state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence-powered Grain Marketing Board Silo Complex, President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa said the commissioning of the Silo complex demonstrates that the Second Republic remains seized with guaranteeing stable, secure, safe and nutritious food supplies in the country.
“This strategic trade and agricultural hub are yet another milestone towards broadening effective grain and commodity storage solutions. It demonstrates that the Second Republic, remains seized with guaranteeing stable, secure, safe and nutritious food supplies in our country.
“I congratulate the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, the Management and Staff of the Grain Marketing Board, including other stakeholders who have played their part, in the successful implementation of this project," said President Mnangagwa.
The Head of State and Government also reiterated that his administration is guaranteeing timely access to grain by all people especially in times of enhanced vulnerability.
“The Mutare GMB facility, which is more than just an investment in infrastructure, has a total capacity of 56,000 metric tonnes. Through such initiatives, my Administration is guaranteeing timely access to grain by all our people, especially in times of enhanced vulnerability.
“The impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution towards reshaping industries, economic sectors and society as a whole cannot be over-emphasised.
“It is, therefore, pleasing that as we navigate this unavoidable new normal, our Ministries, Departments and Agencies are harnessing the power of emerging technologies for the benefit of both current and future generations.
“To this end, these modern silos are equipped with
digital monitoring systems, automated grain handling technologies and advanced quality control laboratories," said President Mnangagwa.
Under the Second Republic’s strides in ICT and innovation empowerment drive the Mutare Silo Complex is one of the 14 new Artificial Intelligence Driven silo sites being constructed by Government under President Mnangagwa’s visionary leadership towards increasing grain storage capacity by 750 000 metric tonnes.
“Such contemporary systems enhance grain storage efficiency, reduce post-harvest losses and ensure national food safety through improved risk monitoring and globally acclaimed management standards.
“It is further, commendable that the new features such as built-in dryers, dust and irrelevant material extraction, as well as improved ventilation, make these modern facilities suitable for longer-term storage of grain.
“This Mutare Silo Complex is one of the 14 new Artificial Intelligence Driven silo sites being constructed by my government towards increasing grain storage capacity by 750 000 metric tonnes,”said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa also added that the philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind is unstoppable and will continue to cascade down through the Devolution and Decentralization Agenda.
“Under the philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind, my Administration continues to mainstream the Devolution and Decentralisation Agenda.
“This is designed to bring development, goods and services closer to the grassroot communities and ensuring equitable distribution of resources and opportunities,”said President Mnangagwa.
