We are determined to strengthen our ties: Cde Mpofu

ZANU PF and the Rwanda Patriotic Front RPF have vowed to strengthen their ties as their countries continue to enjoy cordial relations.


Speaking after a closed door meeting at the Party headquarters in Harare, Secretary General of ZANU PF Cde Obert Mpofu and Rwandan Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency James Musoni both expressed the desire to work together.


"The dialogue that we had with the Ambassador is as a result of the close ties that the two countries have as a result of what our two leaders His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa and His Excellency President Paul Kagame and has led to closer ties," Cde Mpofu said.


"What is happening between the two countries now is more than a diplomatic relationship but a brotherly and sisterly relationship. The ties are becoming more of all weather ties between the two sister countries and we work well with the RPF at a party level."


Ambassador Musoni also highlighted his country and Party’s commitment to Zimbabwe and ZANU PF.


"The purpose of my visit is to convey the best wishes to the Secretary General from his brother Secretary General Wellars Gasamagera and share the commitment to strengthening further the existing cordial relationship between our two sister parties," Ambassador Musoni said.


"I am also here to express our gratitude for our President His Excellency President Paul Kagame and his brother His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the good collaboration that exists between our two countries and see how as parties we can keep supporting that initiative and existing relationship."



Ambassador Musoni also shared how discussions span to the programmes scheduled to occur in that country among them the 30th commemorations of the genocide against the Tutsi, the National Presidential and Parliamentary elections as well as the independence celebrations slated for the 1st of July.


He commended President Mnangagwa for the good work he is doing.


"I also spoke about the good work that ZANU PF is doing and the good work that President Mnangagwa is doing for the betterment of Zimbabwe. I also spoke about the collaboration for Pan-Africanism and the agenda to have the Africa we want."
