ZANU-PF is deeply saddened by the untimely demise of businessman Wicknell Chivhayo and his wife Lucy Muteke-Chivhayo and fellow passengers.
This unbearably painful loss places a burden upon all who wish well for the pursuit of prosperity for our Mother Continent of Africa. It is a fact that engaging in business enterprise engenders the production and distribution of goods and services which sustain day to day human existence and builds national wealth.
In the 1960-70s, youths from the subregion selflessly and courageously fought racist and apartheid settler minorities to rid Southern Africa of vestigial imperial interlopers. At the heart of revolutionary militance lay the quest for the restoration of sovereignty and its attendant promise of prosperity. These sacrifices had but one goal: Restoring opportunities that would unleash the SADC subregional drive to self-actualization and material abundance accruing through a shared global development drive.
Chivhayo’s prominence resided in his uncanny and remarkable ability to read the signals of business acumen offered as the reward of the historic national liberation movement that had delivered in politics and governance.Thereafter it was poised to go a step further and forge strong subregional bonds in the pursuit of common prosperity and deliver on Africa's rightful place in the global village of the comity of nations.
The late Chivhayo was fully aware of the synergies that derive from the collaborative engagement of politics, governance and entrepreneurship as agents of prosperity. He harnessed this attribute to exploit the emerging frontiers of the advances in leading edge technological. His knack was in his ability to link State House leadership and vision to the aspirations of the executive suites of local and global business.
His pioneering embrace of Starlink and its promise and actuality of universal and holistic digital internet inclusivity will forever stand out as a high-water mark in his quest for business success within and without Zimbabwe. He had that special knack of making heads of state appreciate andembrace the march of technology and translate it to the wishes and attainment of ordinary people at work.
Salute goes to H.E. President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa for his discerning identification of this outstanding attribute in youthful Chivhayo.'s business prowess. He went further to ply this virtue of Chivhayothrough introducing him to fellow heads of state.
The Second Republic of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has been at the forefront of national business growth that taps upon the enterprise of both Domestic Direct Investment and Foreign Direct Investment as well as the entrepreneurial energy deriving that derives. President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is a lucky survivor as a military recruit of the 1960s revolutionary national liberation movement.
His mind and memory are etched with that covenant to realize and fulfill the quest for prosperity as the enduring and historic mission of that Samora Machel-'76 Soweto Generation of supreme and ultimate sacrifice. He is acutely committed to the continuity and sustenance of that covenant of prosperity.
His mantras:
Zimbabwe Is Open for Business.
Leaving No One and No Place Behind.
Engagement and Re-engagement.
Friend To All and Enemy to None.
The above all succinctly speak to this covenant of prosperity.
The resurgent and expanding economy of Zimbabwe bearstestimony to the attainment of Vision 2030 and the assured attainment of an Upper Middle-Income Nation Status. He is championing and encouraging the development of a National Middle Class as a bedrock of certainty and stability of the national body politic. This middle class in turn spawns and sustains a home-grown business cadre ship with deep roots in our bonanza endowment of natural resources in mineral, farming and tourist.
An organized and structured population with Africa’s highhuman resource development and sense of discipline is proving itself as it defies inimical sanctions and economic strangulation. Global business executives local and global are in awe. Zimbabwe is proving itself at work. Its economic mettle is tried, tested and tempered as it advertises its capability to promptly convert capital.
Zimbabwe just celebrated a new Munhumutapa Day national holiday. It evokes the past glory that is the vaunted Great Zimbabwe Civilization with UNESCO rated architectural edifices. Mapungubwe, Masvingo’s Great Zimbabwe, Danamombe, Khami and Zvongombe, bygone citadels are stark reminders of the commerce conducted by the people of the Zimbabwe plateau. This Great Zimbabwe Civilization is the progeny of the medieval Iron Age population living between the Zambezi and the Limpopo rivers, between the Kalahari Desert and the Indian Ocean. They compliment the domestic economic activity with conducting of commerce with the Littoral States of the Indian Ocean.
The interface of past economic glory and present economic attainment lay at the root of affinity of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa to late businessman WicknellChivhayo. It is this aspect of business acumen that drew the President to the late entrepreneur. The conferment of Provincial Hero Status captures it all. Excellence in enterprise is duly rewarded with high level patriotic recognition. Success in business that edifies the quest for National Prosperity carries with it the Promise of National Recognition.
Farewell to Wicknell Chivhayo, a patriotic businessman par excellence.
